NBCSN Fight Night Kicks Off 2014 Season on Jan 24th at Resorts AC
Atlantic City, NJ – The popular NBCSN Fight Night series kicks off 2014 from the Superstar Theatre at Resorts International Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ on Friday, January, 24, 2014. Programming will begin at 10:00 PM EST. The main event will feature a ten-round middleweight brawl matching power against pressure when Brooklyn’s own Curtis “Showtime” Stevens (25-4, 18 KOs) takes on Patrick “The Machine” Majewski (21-2, 13KOs).
“We are excited to deliver the action-packed Fight Night to our fans for a third season with the 2014 debut featuring a top-flight card highlighted by middleweight contender Curtis Stevens’ return to the series,” said Gary Quinn, NBC Sports Group vice president of programming.
Main Events CEO, Kathy Duva, added: “I really can’t wait to kick off the 2014 NBCSN Fight Night season! The card that we’ve put together for Friday, January 24th should be great. Both Stevens and Majewski have something to prove, so this looks to be a sensational match-up. We’re also bringing Thabiso Mchunu back, and then, on March 15th (9-11pm) we’ll finally see the Tomasz Adamek vs. Vyacheslav “Czar” Glazkov match that was originally scheduled for November 16,2013. We also may have some surprises up our sleeves for the end of the year!”
Adding some further excitement to the main event, Patrick Majewski, originally of Radom, Poland, is currently residing in Atlantic City and this will be his first fight in front of his adopted hometown crowd. Majewski seeks to make a statement after his loss to Patrick Nielsen in Denmark this past September while Curtis Stevens is looking to bounce back from his loss to Gennady Golovkin at Madison Square Garden in November.
The co-feature will include a battle between Thabiso “The Rock” Mchunu (14-1, 10 KOs) of South Africa and Olanrewaju “God’s Power” Durodola (15-1, 14 KOs) of Nigeria in a ten-round match-up for the NABF cruiserweight title. Mchunu made his U.S. and Fight Night debut in August 2013 with his unanimous decision upset over “Fast” Eddie Chambers at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. Durodola is coming off eight straight knock-out victories Only one of his 16 bouts has ended in a decision, so don’t expect this one to go the distance!
