Mike “Hollywood” Jimenez to face Aaron Pryor Jr. for the Wbc Continental Americas Super Middleweight title
CHICAGO — March 3, 2016 — For the past 25 years, Chicago’s longest-running promotional company, Hitz Boxing, has presented the most exciting boxing events the Chicago area has to offer. In keeping with its mantra, “Boxing…it’s better live,” promoter Bobby Hitz brings boxing back to the Horseshoe Hammond on May 14th, when Windy City favorite Mike “Hollywood” Jimenez (19-1, 13KO) returns in a ten-round WBC title bout versusAaron Pryor Jr. (19-9-1, 12KO).
After hitting the road to face Jesse Hart on the Mayweather-Pacquiao undercard, and then delivering a knockout win over Francisco Ramon Benitez in his hometown of Carlton, Australia, Jimenez wowed a nearly sold-out crowd with a first round knockout in November, fulfilling his promise to his hometown fans, friends and fellow iron workers to put on a sensational homecoming performance for Chicago. He looks to continue his two fight winning streak on May 14th.
Pryor, who faced Jesse Hart in his last bout, is a tested veteran, having fought Adonis Stevenson, Marcus Browne, Edwin Rodriguez, and, in 2011, Librado Andrade, over whom he won a majority decision.
It’s a crossroads fight for both fighters, but the stakes are high for Jimenez, who will face a tough test in his hometown. “It’s a huge honor, and I’m excited to be fighting for a WBC title,” said the fighter. “Fighting Aaron Pryor, JR. will be a great fight for me, and will be an exciting fight to bring to Chicago. This is an opportunity I’ve been waiting for, and I won’t be denied in front of my hometown. I want to be Chicago’s Champ. I do this for them.”
Doors to The Venue at Horseshoe Hammond open at 6:00 on May 14th, and first bell is at 7:00. Tickets are priced $90, 40 and 30, and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets. Boxing fans must be 21 years and older to attend events at the Horseshoe Hammond.
