INGLEWOOD, CALIF. — Fight Week for boxing’s big return to the Forum begins This Tuesday! Four-division world champion and Mexican icon JUAN MANUEL “Dinamita” MÁRQUEZ (55-7-1, 40 KOs), of México City, and former world champion “Mile High” MIKE ALVARADO (34-2, 23 KOs), of Denver, Colo., will duke it out in the inaugural brawl — a 12-round World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title elimination bout, Saturday, May 17.

The winner will become the mandatory challenger to WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. Márquez vs. Alvarado will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing®, beginning at 10:15 p.m. ET/PT. The telecast will open with Viktor Postol (25-0, 10 KOs), of Brovarsky, Ukraine, and Selcuk Aydin (26-2, 19 KOs), of Trabzon, Turkey, world-rated No. 1 and No. 2 by the World Boxing Council (WBC), respectively, battling in a 12-round WBC super lightweight title elimination bout.
