MAIN EVENTS ANNOUNCES DYNAMITE DARGAN SIGNING

TOTOWA, NJ – Main Events officially announced today the signing of undefeated lightweight prospect Karl “Dynamite” Dargan to an exclusive promotional contract. Dynamite, 11-0, 6 KOs, who hails from Philadelphia, was an outstanding amateur with extensive experience and both national and international tournament titles to his credit. He turned professional in 2007, and has defeated all eleven of his opponents to date.

In his most recent start, Dynamite stopped Jesse Caradine, 8-1-1, 4 KOs, in the fourth round at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. The victory, on a Main Events-promoted show in September, impressed the promoter enough to offer Dynamite a promotional contract.

Kathy Duva, Main Events CEO, said “Dynamite is one of the most exciting young prospects in boxing. His ring intelligence, power, skills and finesse gave me flashbacks of the ’84 Olympic team that signed with Main Events; he would have fit in perfectly with that group.” Duva added, “We are excited to sign Dynamite and look forward to featuring him on NBC Fight Night Future Stars on February 23rd”.

Dynamite shared his confidence in his decision, “I feel really good about signing with Main Events. There have been a lot of guys that I know personally that have signed to Main Events and Main Events helped them have great careers, like Mark Breland, Tyrell Biggs, Meldrick Taylor and Pernell Whitaker. So we were confident in our decision to go with Main Events. I feel they will back me real good and help me get to the top”.

With Dynamite’s deep amateur experience and perfect pro run, he is already considered to be a fighter to watch. Further, he is trained by his uncle, well-respected boxing coach Brother Naazim Richardson, who also trains former world champions Steve Cunningham, Bernard Hopkins, as well as other prominent fighters.

“I was focused on finding the best fit for this young man. Sometimes people wonder why you don’t stay closer to home; but you have to go with what’s best for each individual athlete. I felt Main Events with their history, their experience and their television deal (with NBC) was the right choice. I felt that this was perfect timing to launch this gentleman’s career”, said Brother Naazim. “Like I said before, you have champions, you have fighters and you have guys that are special. I believe that this young man here is special”.

Dynamite is expected to next fight on February 23rd, on the NBC Sports Network Fight Night show at the Paramount Theater in Huntington, NY, with plans for his bout to be taped for a segment of NBC Fight Night Future Stars. The Saturday night telecast will begin at 10:30PM ET.
