LANGFORD HEADLINES WOLVERHAMPTON CIVIC HALL ON SATURDAY 3rd OCTOBER AS HE KEEPS HOT ON THE HEELS OF LEE AND SAUNDERS

Tommy-LangfordRed-hot middleweight Tommy Langford returns to action on Saturday 3rd October at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall when he makes the first defence of his WBO Intercontinental title.

The unbeaten Birmingham based ace headlines the show promoted by Frank Warren and P.J Rowson, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky 437/HD 490, Virgin 546 and Talk Talk 525).

Langford shot to prominence in the talent packed 160lb division when he captured the title last month, defeating tough Mexican Julio Cesar Avalos with a stunning fourth round stoppage, and his challenger will be announced shortly.

With that win, the 26-year-old talent, born in Bideford, North Devon, crashed into the WBO rankings at number seven and aims to continue his form as he keeps hot on the heels of division leaders Andy Lee, the WBO World Middleweight Champion, and Billy Joe Saunders, who collide on October 10th in Manchester.

“I’m really excited with the new season ahead and what it holds for me,” Said Langford.

“I had my best career win so far against Avalos, but there is so much more to come from me in the future and I can’t wait to get to work on Saturday 3rd October at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall, where I’m headlining a show for the first time,”

“The middleweight division is looking great domestically with top fighters like Lee and Saunders, who clash in the biggest fight of the year, and I aim to one day fight one of these two or be involved in a fight of the same size against a domestic rival, maybe a Chris Eubank Jnr. or a Nick Blackwell, they would be great fights,”

“First of all I’m looking to put on an action-packed showing at the Civic Hall and show that I’m the next big name in the division, keep my winning record intact and keep moving up and up in the rankings.”

Chief-support on the show is an Eliminator for the English Super-Welterweight Championship between Dudley’s Ryan Aston and Aylesbury’s Nathan Graham. A top class undercard will feature a host of top up-and-coming talents, including unbeaten Guisborough light-welterweight Josh Leather; Birmingham super-bantamweight Razza Hamza; Leicester super-featherweight Lyon Woodstock; Belfast super-welterweight Macaulay McGowan; Rowley Regis middleweight Tyler Denny; Dudley lightweight Les Byfield and the professional debut of Dudley flyweight Josh Miller.

Tickets priced at £40, £60 & £100 are available from the Wolverhampton Civic Hall Box Office at www.wolvescivic.co.uk and 0870 320 7000.
