Knockout Season 2 hitting Macau, Mexico and RussiA
Knockout is back bigger and better than season one. The series still revolves around iconic trainers but this time a legendary superstar will be lacing up the gloves on the live fight card which takes place on August 15th. The legend will be announced later this week.
Last week I reached out to a source close to production and was able to have a private viewing of season two which is slated to begin in July. At the end of the viewing, my honest opinion was that as good as last year was, this season is far superior.
The show is being pushed for a regional emmy nod, and they are praying that they get it. As with any great show, there were a lot of disagreements and the production team was actually fighting more than the boxers, but the product is incredibly good.
Knockout executive producer Steven Marcano is close to locking in a deal in Macau with a casino and local Chinese channel. He also will be working out format deals in Russia and Mexico where these world class trainers go to these countries and train their up and coming superstars.
The second season was shot at Foxwoods and the first season was filmed in Las Vegas, so I ask my friend, “what does season three have in store?” He told me there aren’t a lot of details now except that there are major players stepping to the executive producer – major agents, major fighters and major promoters.
What is most important about these foreign markets is that they bring what the show really needs – which is financing. The inner circle of boxing and TV knows that Knockout is a hit and now Hollywood and the world are making offers bigger and better than before.
My friend also told me you can expect to see this for 2 more seasons and that the executive producer told him that they will continue to work with Fuse and Foxwoods as they are all on the same page. The new format deals will only enhance the show by making it international.
We spoke to the creator of the show and he said that he would love to discuss Knockout next week for a full in depth interview about anything and everything. I think that would be great but I thought we should talk to the headliner for the live event first so that’s next. Stay tuned.
