Jorge ‘Maromerito’ Páez accepts the challenge of Erik “Terrible” Morales
Following his seventh round TKO of Iván Hernández, Jorge ‘Maromerito’ Paez was challenged to a bout byboxing legend Erik ‘El Terrible’ Morales…and readily accepted.
Against Hernandez Páez started slow, with the Colombian maintaining a snug guard. But the Mexican, who based on his speed, managed to pierce that defense.
From the third round onwards, Paez was landing significantly better combinations to undermine the defense of his rival. Paez came out attacking in the fourth round felling Hernández with a short right hook.
In the fifth Paez hit the Colombian on the neck, with Hernandez, making the most of it, falling to the canvass and taking his time about resuming hostilities.
Paez again decked him in the seventh with a left uppercut. And then without explanation, the Referee stopped the fight, although Hernanez looked in a good position to continue the battle.
The fight between Morales and Paez might take place early next year and will be one of the last matches from the Mexican legend who’s on the cusp of retirement.
