Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Megan Anderson Defends Title Against Kolesnyk
Kansas City, Mo. – Featherweight champion Megan Anderson (8-2) will make the first defense of her title when Invicta Fighting Championships returns to the historic Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City on Saturday, July 15.
Her opponent for the summer showdown at Invicta FC 24 is Helena “Pretty” Kolesnyk (5-0, 1 NC), who joins the promotion after building her unblemished resume in China, Russia and Ukraine.
“Megan has been on quite a roll over the last two years, establishing herself as a dominant featherweight and building a passionate fanbase here in Kansas City,” said Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp. “We’re only looking to book competitive match-ups in this division, so being able to bring in an accomplished striker like Helena is very exciting.”
Anderson looks to continue her ascent at 145 pounds, dominating the division with four knockouts in a row dating back to the beginning of 2016. The 27-year-old defeated veteran Charmaine Tweet to capture the Invicta FC interim featherweight title in January and became undisputed Invicta FC featherweight champion after Cristiane Justino vacated the belt in March.
Born in Ukraine and training out of Moscow, the challenger Kolesnyk has finished all five of her professional wins, including three first-round knockouts and a first-round submission to punches. She is an experienced Muay Thai practitioner, taking bronze at the IFMA World Muaythai Championships in 2015.
