Hughie Fury gets Zarate test this Saturday night (Nov 14) in Bristol
LONDON (11 NOVEMBER) Heavyweight sensation Hughie Lewis Fury will face Argentina’s Emilio Ezequiel Zarate over eight rounds this Saturday night (November 14) at Bristol’s City Academy as part of the undercard to Nick Blackwell’s British middleweight title defence against Jack Arnfield, live on Channel 5.
Buenos Aires-based Zarate is a veteran of 35 professional fights and has done the majority of his fighting in his native Argentina. The 34-year-old has shared the ring with the likes of Fabio Moli, George Arias and the unbeaten Arnold Gjergjaj, has nine knockouts from eighteen wins, and is the former South American heavyweight champion.
Twenty-one-year-old Fury, meanwhile, is undefeated in 16 professional fights and recently outpointed both George Arias and Andriy Rudenko over the ten-round distance. He’s been preparing for this fight in camp with world heavyweight title challenger Tyson Fury, his cousin, and claims to be in the best shape of his life. This will be his third fight of 2015.
“Hughie is a fantastic young heavyweight talent who is looking more impressive than ever in training,” said promoter Mick Hennessy. “He’s had a great 2015 so far, beating a couple of durable and dangerous heavyweights, and next year will be gunning for titles.
“He’s very hard to match right now, though, as a lot of top heavyweights are turning down the chance to fight him. They know how good he is.
“He had great pedigree in the amateur ranks, winning a World Youth Amateur Championship, and is now showing that same pedigree in the pros.
“I’m very excited that the Channel 5 viewers get to see his progression.”

Blackwell and Arnfield weigh-in set for Friday (Nov 13) at 1pm in Bristol
LONDON (11 NOVEMBER) Middleweights Nick Blackwell and Jack Arnfield will both weigh in at Bristol’s Marriott Hotel on Friday (November 13) ahead of their British title fight the following day.
Blackwell is the reigning and defending British middleweight champion and has scored two of the most dramatic stoppage wins of 2015; his seventh-round victory over John Ryder in May, at a sold-out O2 Arena, landed him his current title, and his first defence in July against Damon Jones saw him retain the belt with a stunning one-punch knockout in the sixth round.
Challenger Arnfeld, meanwhile, has won 19 of 20 pro fights and beaten the likes of Max Maxwell and Mick Hall. This is his first shot at a major domestic title and he promises to grab it with both hands.
Also appearing at Friday’s 1pm weigh-in will be former Olympian and world amateur star Andrew Selby, all set for his second pro fight on Saturday, and his unbeaten opponent Jozsef Ajtai.
