Howard Davis Jr Night of the Champions
Fort Lauderdale (july 7, 2016) July we have a week of heavy hitting Boxing action. July 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th Hyatt Regency Pier 66 will host 2016 Women’s golden gloves nationals. These ladies will be putting it all on the line to fulfill their dreams of becoming a golden glove champion. General admission for July 5th, 6th ,7th is $15.00 and ringside is $30.00. The general admission for the final event Saturday July 9th is $20.00 and ringside will be $45.00.
Also, Friday July 8 Caninos Boxing presents Men’s Amateur Boxing Fights. These hungry warriors are looking to improve their records and possibly be proclaimed as the next baldest man on the planet. This event will also be honoring 1976 boxing Olympic gold medalist, the late great Howard Davis Jr.
Howard Edward Davis Jr. (February 14, 1956 – December 30, 2015) was an American amateur and professional boxer Growing up on Long Island as the eldest of 10 children, Davis first learned boxing from his father. After being inspired by a movie about Mohammed Ali, Davis embarked on his amateur career. He won the 1976 Olympic gold medal one week after his mother died. ]
He turned professional after the Olympics and went on to compile a professional record of 36–6–1 with 14 knockouts. He retired in 1996. After retirement he became a trainer.s. He was also a motivational speaker and a musician.
