Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati to host Championship Fight Night May 29

CINCINNATI (April 30, 2014) — Horseshoe Casino and R&R Promotions have partnered to bring a bit of Las Vegas flair to Cincinnati by hosting Championship Fight Night on Thursday, May 29. The special, one-night event at the Horseshoe’s Pavilion will feature three World Boxing Council United States title defenses by local champions and will be hosted by three-time world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner and International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Aaron Pryor Sr. It will be the first boxing championship to be held at the Horseshoe. Tickets are on sale today, April 30.

“We are very excited to be teaming up with the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati to present another great night of boxing action for the fans here in Ohio,” said R&R Promotions CEO Andrew Williams. “Our last collaboration was a standing room only sellout crowd. This time we have another historic card that will see three local fighters each defending WBC United States titles and much of the state’s other top boxing talent.”

In the main event, Brandon “Untouchable” Bennett will defend his super featherweight title for the first time since he won it last November. Bennett is a 26-year-old southpaw who fights with a slick style. At 17-1 (7 KOs), Bennett is continuing his rise through the 130-pound division. A victory on May 29 will solidify his position as a top contender.

Aaron Pryor Jr., son of boxing Hall-of-Famer Aaron “The Hawk” Pryor, will be looking to continue his run of three straight victories as he defends his super middleweight title in the co-feature. Pryor is 19-7 (12 KOs) and presents a tough matchup for any opponent standing at 6-foot-4 with an 84-inch reach.

The third title fight features William “Action” Jackson defending his welterweight belt. Jackson, 25, is coming off a career-best majority decision victory over rising prospect Chris Rudd, handing him the first defeat of his career. Jackson has a record of 11-2-1 (5 KOs).

The stacked undercard features bouts by 2008 U.S. Olympian Raynell Williams, Indianapolis native Anthony Sims Jr., a decorated amateur with over 200 fights, and native Cincinnatians David Long, Mel Crossty, DeVonte Allen, Danny Calhoun, and Aaron Hollis.
