On the night of August 24 boxing returns to The Stub Hub Center in Carson,CA.The card promoted by Golden Boy Promotions features world champions Abner Mares and Leo Santa Cruz in separate bouts. That same night one of boxing brightest prospects Julian “El Camaron” Ramirez 8-0 makes his return.

Before the main event takes place on the Showtime network, Ramirez who is an East Los Angeles native, hopes to prove to all in attendance why he is one fighter to watch on his journey to a title. The undefeated super bantamweight has plans to remain busy during the second half of his 2013 campaign.

This will be Ramirez’ fourth fight of the year since he last fought in March when he won a six round unanimous decision. Ramirez who has previously fought as a featherweight, will now compete in the super bantamweight class and while his opponent is unknown at the moment, his preparation doesn’t change.

With so many current and former bantamweight champions featured in the main two bouts, Ramirez wants to show the fans that he is the next champion in the division. “I just want to fight at 122(lbs) and want to shine in the weight class. I’ll stay here for the next year and see how far I can go before I move up to 126(lbs),” said Ramirez.

Having spent time in the camp of WBA Super Bantamweight champion Scott Quigg last winter, Ramirez gained valuable experience in what it takes to become a world champion and the work ethic involved. It’s something he carries with him in his training no matter who the opponent.

“I like eating better and before I didn’t really like to spar and now I know it’s a big thing in training. Now I spar more and I take boxing more serious, I want to be someone in boxing.” said Ramirez.

For a young fighter the spoils that come with winning are very addictive. From not only a monetary standpoint but also the cheering of the crowd and building a fanbase who support their rise to the top. Ramirez understands that fans want results and that when he delivers knockouts everyone takes notice.

“The fans are everything like in any sport. If you don’t have fans you don’t have any tv time and that means less money. I want to entertain the fans. I want them to want to watch me. I want them to talk about me and say oh that’s El Camaron, that’s the Shrimp right there. I can’t wait till his next fight,” said Ramirez.

That type of thinking is what it takes to get noticed on a card with popular champions like Mares and Santa Cruz on it. Ramirez understands that a win is not enough and is content to set the bar high that night by delivering in his fight.

“It motivates me because I want to be a future champ too. I’ve got power and speed and I want to show that I can hang with the big boys.”
