German amateur star Patrick Wojcicki has signed professional terms with Team Sauerland and will be making his pro debut on November 21 on the undercard of Arthur Abraham’s WBO World Super Middleweight title defence against Martin Murray at the TUI Arena in Hannover, Germany.
‘’This is a dream come true,’’ said Wojcicki. ‘’I’ve been wanting to turn pro for a long time now and finally the time is right. Team Sauerland are one of the biggest and most successful promoters in Europe, and with them guiding my career, I’m sure it will be a success!’’
Promoter Kalle Sauerland has been impressed with what he has seen from Wojcicki so far and expects the 24 year-old’s fan-friendly style to be a hit with boxing audiences.
‘’Stylistically Patrick has always been more suited to the professionals than the amateurs,’’ said Sauerland. ‘’It was his aggressive and attractive style that caught our attention, and I’m sure this will prove popular in the paid ranks.’’
In what weight class Wojcicki will be campaigning is still open for discussion according to Sauerland: ‘’Patrick’s first fight will be at the super middleweight limit but the option remains to move down to middleweight if needs be, and we will make that decision together at the appropriate time.’’
What is for certain is that the London 2012 Olympian’s maiden fight will come on November 21 in Hannover, and that the young fighter is excited to be making his professional bow so close to his hometown of Wolfsburg. ‘’It’s great to be fighting so close to home,‘’ said Wojcicki. ‘’I can’t wait to step into the ring in front of all my friends and family and claim my first professional win!’’
