golden boy logoBOSTON (May 14, 2014) – An ankle injury has forced Ontario’s Logan McGuinness to withdraw from his NABA Featherweight Title fight against Mike “The Machine” Oliver, but fans at the House of Blues in Boston and those watching at home on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes on Thursday, June 5 will be treated to an exciting new Golden Boy Live! main event when unbeaten New Yorker Emmanuel Gonzalez faces Philadelphia’s Tevin “American Idol” Farmer in a 10-round junior lightweight bout.

 

In other action, returning to the ring after a great last outing at the House of Blues in Boston will be exciting lightweight Jamie Kavanagh of Dublin, Ireland against an opponent to be announced as well as previously announced unbeaten heavyweight Alexis Santos of Lawrence, Mass. who will now face Daniel Martz (10-1-1, 7 KOs) of Clarksburg, WV for the NABF Junior Heavyweight Title.

 

Also, in non-televised bouts, fans will see super middleweights Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan (16-1, 10 KOs) of Ireland face off against Quincy, Massachusetts’ Jose Medina (18-14-1, 7 KOs) and Mark Deluca (9-0, 6 KOs), who is also a Quincy native, will face Richard “Bobo” Starnino (9-13-2, 2 KOs) of Providence, RI in six and four round bouts respectively. Quincy cruiserweight Chris Traietti (16-3, 12 KOs) will face an opponent to be determined, Pembroke, Mass. cruiserweight Vinnie Carita (9-1-1, 9 KOs) will face Danny Phippen (21-1, 16 KOs) of Wareham, Mass and welterweight Rashidi Ellis (5-0, 3 KOs) of Lynn, Mass will meetShakha Moore (11-20-3, 2 KOs) of Norwalk, Conn. all in a six-round welterweight bouts. The evening will kick-off with a four-round heavyweight fight between Danny Kelly (5-0-1, 4 KOs) of Washington, D.C. and Eric Newell (7-2-2, 5 KOs) of Bethlehem, Penn.

 

A Bronze medalist in the U.S. Amateur National Championships, The Bronx’ Emmanuel Gonzalez (14-0, 7 KOs) is currently one of the brightest stars on the New York professional boxing scene. Born of Puerto Rican descent, the 26-year-old Gonzalez is a man of many talents in the ring, which were showcased during his recent wins over Noel Echevarria and Victor Sanchez.

 

Hailing from the fighting city of Philadelphia, 23-year-old Tevin “American Idol” Farmer (15-4-1, 3 KOs) has a wide array of skills that he can use in the ring and with eight consecutive wins to his name, he’s on the fast track to big things at 130 pounds. With seven straight wins during a busy 2013 campaign, Farmer kicked off 2014 with a win over Noel Echevarria, an opponent he and Gonzalez have in common.

 

Twenty-three-year-old Dublin native Jamie “The Nuisance” Kavanagh (16-1-1, 7 KOs) returns to the ring after an impressive eight round victory over Andres Navarro on March 17 and looks to be back in line to continue his rise up the lightweight ladder. Now, he looks to capture the attention of Boston’s loyal fans again and make this his second home against an opponent to be determined in an eight round battle.
