ORANGE, Calif. (July 23, 2014) – Super bantamweight Efrain Esquivias (17-3-1, 10 KOs), who was scheduled to fight Christopher Martin (27-3-3, 9 KOs) in the 10-round main event at this Friday’s“Locked n Loaded” event in Ontario, Calif., has pulled out of the fight due to a high fever that set in earlier today. Martin will not face a replacement fighter.
The main event now matches undefeated bantamweight prospect Carlos Carlson (14-0, 10 KOs) of Mexico in the first defense of his WBC Latino Championship that he won versus the always-tough Javier Gallo in February. Carlson faces fellow countryman Jose Cen-Torres (13-4, 1 KO) in the 8-round championship fight.
“We are disappointed that the Martin-Esquivias match up will not happen,” said Alex Camponovo, matchmaker and general manager at Thompson Boxing. “We know this fight generated a considerable amount of interest. Fortunately for fans, we were able to elevate the Carlson vs. Cen-Torres fight to the main event. Carlson is one of our young prospects with a nice combination of skill and power. We are confident he will put on a great show.”
Tickets priced at $100, $60, & $40 are on sale now and can be purchased online atThompsonBoxing.com or by phone at 714-935-0900.
Also off the card is promising heavyweight prospect LaRon Mitchell (4-0, 4 KOs) of San Francisco. He was scheduled to fight a 4-rounder against Zachary Bunce (2-1, 1 KO) of Las Vegas until a hand injury forced him out.
Replacing the heavyweight fight is undefeated super welterweight Tavoris Teague (2-0, 1 KO) of La Habra, Calif. against Malik Bazille (1-2) of Ontario. The fight is scheduled for 4-rounds.
