Débora Dionicius vs. Gabriela Bouvier in Argentina
Débora Dionicius defends her crown against Gabriela Bouvier IBF junior bantamweight world title April 13th., Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina
International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior bantamweight world champion, unbeaten Argentinean Débora “La Gurisa” Dionicius, will face Uruguayan and former world title challenger Gabriela “La Gaby” Bouvier, trying to defend for the first time her belt, in the 10-round main event of an exciting night that will take place on Saturday, April 13th., at the Club Atlético Echagüe, in Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina, in a presentation promoted by Argentina Boxing Promotions, of Mario Margossian, televised live by TyC Sports in Argentina and lots of parts of America, starting at 11 p.m.
“La Gurisa” (11-0, 4 KOs), form Entre Ríos, former South American champ, will put in the line the title she conquered on November 24th., with a boxing lesson over Michelle Preston, from New Zealand, with a wide unanimous decision, against a young but experienced Bouvier (9-3-1, 2 KOs), Uruguayan monarch, ranked IBF #9, who has already disputed three belts facing Mexican world monarchs like Mariana Juárez and Zulina Muñoz, always at their backyards, and giving good presentations.
The 24-year-old Dionicius, former Argentine Amateur Team, with which she represented her country getting medals all over the world, had her best birthday present when she turned professional on March 19th., 2011, beating Natalia López in Córdoba. After exhibiting her peculiar style in ladies which combines an elegant technique with a notorious speed and power, she defeated every rival that was put in front of her.
On May 5th., she scored a unanimous decision over Uruguayan Stefany Bizquiazo, to get her South American junior bantamweight belt, at her native Villaguay, Entre Ríos. On July 6th., she won another wide unanimous decision against Brazilian Waleria Rodrigues Dos Santos, defending her title, again in Villaguay, and with which she became #2 in the IBF world ranking. And on November 24th., she faced IBF #1, tough and strong New Zealand’s Michelle Preston, punishing her badly during ten rounds, to finally conquer the IBF junior bantamweight title in Villaguay.
But now, who is considered by the majority of the media the most important female rising boxing star in the country will have to prove again all of what is expected from her, knowing that the challenges will get harder, to shine once more in order to defend her crown, and become the best queen in the 115 pounds.
In Bouvier, 21 years old, she will have a complicated opponent who has fought abroad and disputed world titles. After having defeated most countrywomen in the division in Uruguay, “La Gaby”, born in Aigua, Maldonado, went over her nation’s frontiers to challenge important figures. On May and October, 2011, she presented battle to Mexican Mariana Juárez, for the World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight belt, falling in seven and four rounds, respectively.
After that, on September 29th., she went again to Mexico to fight current world camp Zulina Muñoz, making a good performance before being stopped in the ninth episode, for the WBC silver junior bantamweight title. And in her last presentation, on December 15th., she scored a unanimous decision over countrywoman Ely Muñoz, so she is ready to dethrone the champion.
On the undercard:
In a 6-round junior welterweight bout, undefeated heavy puncher Daniel “Cainchi” Aquino (6-0, 5 KOs), from Paraná, Entre Ríos, will face Carlos Carmona (4-2, 1 KO), from Tandil, Buenos Aires.
