Cris Cyborg: I always look for the knockout and this time it won’t be different.
Brasília, Brazil – UFC® FIGHT NIGHT: CYBORG vs. LANSBERG takes place this Saturday, September 24, in Brasília. Here is what the stars have to say ahead of their bouts:
Cris Cyborg: “I am very happy to have the opportunity to fight again here in Brazil, especially as a main event. My opponent is a striker like me, she likes to fight on her feet, so I believe there is a big chance that the fight will go that way. I always look for the knockout and this time it won’t be different. I am prepared for anything, one or five rounds.”
Lina Lansberg: “It feels amazing to fight for the UFC, it is a dream coming true. And I have nothing to lose, so it feels perfect. I don’t know how the fight will end, but I really want to fight five rounds, because I prepared myself for that. I just want to do my thing and make it hard for her. I’m excited to fight with the crowd cheering for my opponent, I think it puts a lot of pressure on her.”
Renan Barão: “I expect the best possible from this fight. I did not know Phillipe Nover, but I had the chance to watch some of his fights. I think this fight will have a lot of grappling, but I am very relaxed as to that. I am confident in this new division, I can see myself in the Top 5 of the division and I don’t think about going back to bantamweight. What is most important today is my health and well-being.”
Phillipe Nover: “I see this as the biggest opportunity of my career. Fighting a former World Champion, with so many accomplishments, will be a true test for me and I believe that I shine best when the odds are against me. So I think this will raise me up to where I need to be in the division. I believe I’m gonna get a finish, I don’t wanna go to the judges, because I think it’s always a risk. So I will need to finish or be pretty dominant.”
Roy Nelson: “I look at myself winning the fight. But I know that after this fight, no matter the result, we will still be friends and will do a movie together. I am excited to fight for the Brazilian crowd. I heard that I have a lot of Brazilian fans, and I just want to give them a show so that they can want me back here.”
Bigfoot Silva: “Roy Nelson is a tough opponent, a guy who has proved to withstand many strikes and who has a heavy right hand. I respect him a lot, we are friends, I even helped in his training for the fight against Overeem. He really likes to fight on his feet, but in his last fight, against Derrick Lewis, he proved to be able to take the fight to the ground. Because of that, I tried to train for everything to be prepared: wrestling, grappling, jiu-jitsu. I don’t know what can happen, but I am sure it will be a great fight.”
