Ghanaian lightweight star Richard Commey (20-0, 18 KOs) improves to 20-0 with a fourth-round technical knockout victory over Mikheil Avakyan (27-19-4, 12 KOs) tonight at the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn, Denmark.
Commey looked slick, dominating the early rounds and scoring well with heavy shots. Avakyan was deducted a point in the fourth round for excessive holding. Moments later referee Freddy Rafn called a halt to the action, sparing the Georgian any further punishment.
‘’I’m happy with my performance,’’ said the current Commonwealth Champion. ‘’He was an awkward opponent. He just wanted to hold and grapple. But as soon as I found my rhythm I was able to start catching him with big shots. It’s great to get another knockout win on my record. Now, I’m looking forward to my next fight on March 21 in South Africa!’’ |
