Farmer of Philadelphia has been on quite a roll as he has won 12 consecutive fights that has raised his record 19-4-1.
This will be the 2nd consecutive national television appearance for the 25 year-old Farmer as he is coming off an impressive 8-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Angel Luna on April 17 in Uncasville, Connecticut. That bout was televised on ESPN Friday Night Fights.
“I have worked hard for nine weeks. I have been ready and I am looking forward to tonight” said Farmer.
In Prescott, he is facing a man who has a gaudy record of 30-2 with 22 knockouts and is a former world title challenger. Prescott was stopped in 7 rounds by Nicholas Walters in 2012 in a bout for the vacant WBA Featherweight title.
“I haven’t really checked him out. It doesn’t matter because I prepare for anyone with any style.
Farmer continues to get better with every fight and he looks nothing like the fighter that started his career 4-3-1. In his win against Luna, Farmer drew heavy praise from ESPN announcer Teddy Atlas.
“I thought I did well in that fight but I am going to look even better tonight. That’s been one of the goals for each fight is to get better and I feel I have been doing that.”
Although not looking past Prescott, Farmer has the confidence to realize he is close to realizing his major goal.
“Tonight, I plan to make it look easy. After that I want a title shot. To be quite honest, If i can’t get a title shot, I will be a bit disappointed. During this run, I have fought a lot of fights and I have made them look easy. Tonight, the fans will see a stronger faster and even more improved version of Tevin Farmer and I can not wait to get in there and have my hand raised.”
“I want to thank my team, my manager Mark Cipparone of Club 1957 Management and my promoter Lou DiBella for getting me this opportunity.”
Said Farmer’s manager Mark Cipparone of Club 1957 Management, “From the day that I teamed up with Tevin I knew that there was something very special about him. Against all odds I believed in Tevin from day one and since that day he has done everything both in and out of the gym to earn not only my respect but the respect of the larger boxing community. I always look forward to his fights because Tevin brings something new every single time! We stood strong with our game plan and it finally beginning to work out. We have an awesome promoter in Lou DiBella as he too has been doing an amazing job. After this win there shouldn’t be that much separation between Tevin and a Title shot. Hard work and talent… It’s that simple?
Farmer weighed 130 while Prescott was 129.8 at Friday’s weigh in
