Undefeated Antoine Douglas takes on toughest for in Michel Soro this Friday night on Sho Box
Verona, NY (July 24, 2014)–This Friday night, one of the fastest rising Middleweight prospects in the world, undefeated Antoine “Action” Douglas will step up to face in toughest test in Frenchman Michel Soro in a 10-round bout for the WBA International championship.
The bout will take place at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York and is promoted by GH3 Promotions & Greg Cohen Promotions and is sponsored by Modell’s Sporting Goods.
Douglas of Burke, Virginia has a record of 14-0 with nine knockouts is eager for this headlining opportunity.
“I am ready for the fight. I am feeling strong and confident,”said Douglas.
This will be be the 2nd consecutive former world title challenger that Douglas will face. On April 4, Douglas scored a vicious 2nd round stoppage over Luca Messi.
“I have seen some video on Soro. He can’t fight backwards but when he comes forward he, he has a nice jab and he likes to counter.”
On January 17, Douglas made his Sho Box debut with a 8-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Marquis Davis.
“It feels great to be back on Sho Box. There will be lots of people watching. I feel privileged to be in the main event of the 200th show.”
Because of the previous exposure that Douglas has received with his appearance on Sho Box plus a couple of fights on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights and combined with the quality of opposition that Douglas has been fighting, he feels that he will be fighting in much bigger fights in the near future.
“I am very happy with my progress. I think that after this, I am one or two fights away from a big opportunity. For now I am just going to take each fight as they come.”
“I just know on Friday night that the fans should be prepared for action. I just want to give thanks to my promoters and my whole team because without them I would not be here,” finished Douglas.
The card is packed top to bottom as in the feature, undefeated Jerry Odom (14-0,10KO’s–8 in the 1st round ) of Bowie, MD will square off with Vilier Quinonez (8-0, 5 KO’s) of Miami, FL in an 8-round fight for the WBC Interim FECARBOX Super Middleweight title.
Cecil McCalla (18-0, 6 KO’s) of Randallstown, MD battle Oscar Godoy (13-2, 6 KO’s) of Watsonville, CA in a Welterweight bout scheduled for 8-rounds.
Wanzell Ellison (11-0-1, 5 KO’s) of Newark, NJ will fight Tony Luis (17-2, 7 KO’s) of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada in a 8-round Lightweight bout.
OFF-TV will see Super Featherweight Jorge Diaz (17-3, 10 KO’s) of New Brunswick, NJ take on an Ramon Ellis (4-11-2, 2 KO’s) of Philadelphia, PA.
Samuel Teah (4-0, 2 KO’s) of Philadelphia will fight Lavisas Williams (4-0-1, 3 KO’s) of Rochester, NY in a 4-round Super Featherweight bout featuring undefeated fighters.
Featherweight Glenn Dezurn of Maryland will make his pro debut against NyCedric Ellis (0-1) of Ohio in a 4-round Featherweight bout.
