Hennessy Sports to promote a night of Championship boxing featuring an all star line-up at Leeds Town Hall, on May 17

LONDON – Damon Jones is ready to show his hometown fans “exactly” what he can do at Leeds Town Hall on May 17.

The Leeds fighter, who fights on the undercard to the MaxiNutrition Knockout semi-finals, live on Channel 5, feels it is great for the city and is motivated to be fighting on the same card as fellow hometown fighter and British light heavyweight champion Bob Ajisafe.

“I’m looking to step up and show the fans exactly what I can do – hopefully I’ll deliver a knockout win,” Damon said.

“Fighting on a show that includes the likes of Bob Ajisafe motivates me as that’s where I want to be. It’s great to have a Leeds champion, a British champion and hopefully I can become another champion for the city.

“It’s exciting for all of Leeds, the fans and the city to have this event and the MaxiNutrition Knockout here – boxing has been away from the city for a while so it will be really good to show what Leeds has”.

The 21-year-old light middleweight picked up the first professional title of his career in his last contest, defeating the tricky Tyan Booth for the British Masters Gold title.

Now, with the “taste for success,” Damon feels more motivated than ever as he looks to keep progressing and fight for as many titles as he can.

“I’m building momentum now, I’m past the learning stage and I’m looking to keep stepping up the level of opposition and developing and being successful,” Damon said.

“It meant loads to get that first title of my career, but I don’t want to leave it there – I want to fight for and win as many titles as possible, if anything winning that belt has motivated me more as it’s given me the taste for success”.

This fantastic night of championship boxing will see Bob Ajisafe take on Swanley’s Southern Area champion Leon Senior as well as newly crowned English light heavyweight champion Travis Dickinson defend his title against Central Area champion Matty Clarkson in the semi-finals of the MaxiNutrition knockout to decide who will compete to become the first ever winner of the competition.

The night will also feature a whole host of exciting talent on the undercard including former world heavyweight title contender and Wladimir Klitschko opponent ‘Fast’ Eddie Chambers, Bradford’s former WBC world light welterweight champion Junior Witter and Darren Tetley, Hull fighter Samir Mouneimne and Morecambe’s Isaac Lowe.
