London (30 April) ‘Magic’ Matty Clarkson feels “the momentum” building ahead of hisEnglish title showdown with ‘Tasty’ Travis Dickinson at Leeds Town Hall on May 17, live on Channel 5.
The Central Area champion, Clarkson, defended his title to meet the newly crowned English champion, Dickinson, in the MaxiNutrition Knockout semi-finals and is “looking forward” to facing the tough Geordie.
“It was a brilliant feeling to defend my title in the quarter-final and one of the highlights of my career so far,” Clarkson said.
“My training has rolled straight from the last fight into this one so it keeps the momentum going – I know I need a performance, I know I need to up my game to get rid of Travis and I’m looking forward to it and showing that I’ve been on this level for a while.”
The 27-year-old Preston man, Clarkson, came through a tricky fight against Sheffield’sLee Duncan on points in their MaxiNutrition Knockout quarter-final contest just last month and recognises he will be the underdog when he faces Dickinson, who knocked out former European champion Danny McIntosh in three rounds in his respective quarter-final.

“Travis boxed well, he got rid of an ex European champion in Danny McIntosh in three rounds, he didn’t mess about.
“But, I couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks because on the 17th of May I’ll answer all the questions.”
