LENNY DAWS “HUNGRIER” THAN EVER AS HE PREPARES FOR HIS CLASH AT RIVERMEAD, READING, ON MARCH 15

francis_ajisafeLondon (12 March) Lenny Daws is “hungrier” than ever as he prepares for his fight atRivermead, Reading on March 15.

Daws, who lost a controversial decision for the European light welterweight title in June, is out to show his fans a classy performance on the undercard to the first set of MaxiNutrition Knockout quarter-finals, live on Channel 5.

“I’m really looking forward to it, training has gone really good – I’m feeling great, sharp,” Lenny said.

“The fans can expect, hopefully, an outstanding performance, look class, razor sharp and a good show to set me up for something bigger later on in the year.”

The Morden light welterweight, Daws, is a former British light welterweight champion and in June faced Michele Di Rocco for the coveted European title in Italy.

That night ended in controversy for Daws, as he lost a tight points decision, but felt that Di Rocco’s team had used an illegal substance to heal a cut during the fight.

Now, with 26 wins and 10 knockouts to his name, Daws still thinks about that night, but is ready to move forward with his career.

“It plays on my mind a little bit, because I feel that the European title should have been mine and leading to bigger things,” Daws said.

“But, it never went our way out there, so it’s made me hungrier to push on and on Saturday I’m looking to do a job, look good and who knows what’s down the road for me.

“I want to be fighting for a title again, the sooner the better really – I’m just going to focus on what we’ve been doing in the gym and putting it all into the game plan, get the win and we’re a step closer to where we need to go.”

Daws competes on the undercard to English light heavyweight champion, Bob Ajisafe and former British, Commonwealth and European champion, Dean Francis, as they clash for the British light heavyweight title and a place in the next round of the MaxiNutrition Knockout.

Also scheduled to fight on the show is Leon Senior, as he faces former Commonwealth title challenger Tony Hill over 10 rounds, in the second quarter-final of the MaxiNutrition Knockout for the Southern Area light heavyweight belt.

Former Irish lightweight champion Peter McDonagh takes on John Hutchinsonfor the vacant Irish light middleweight title and also in action are Reading’s own Tamuka Mucha, Thomas Jarvis, Ricky O’Brien and Slough’s John Brennan.
