Super! JC Chávez Jr wants to step up
Ambitious Julio Cesar Chavez Jr declares he’s still young, has remaining goals to conquer and aims to win another title above middleweight.
It’s been almost a year since he lost the WBC middleweight crown to Sergio Martinez. In his return fight against Brian Vera, he had to shed a bucket load of ring rust.
Much has been said about a rematch against Vera, but Julio confirmed pen’s not been put to paper.
“I haven’t signed anything yet, I can’t speak about a rematch with Vera, but I’ve heard that it might take place in February. The truth is that there are other fights that I want.”
Chavez Jr. said that he’s motivated by the idea of facing Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez in a rematch and by conquering the super middleweight title.
“I still have a lot to achieve in boxing. I’m 27 and I want to conquer the super middleweight title. To become the first Mexican in doing it, like I did with the middleweight title. Let’s see how far I can reach.”
Regarding his fight against Vera, Julio said that the fight helped him a lot to regrout and regain ring rhythm.
“I regained this, so the fight was helpful, I can’t stop fighting for this long again. I want to thank God, because TV ratings show that people still follow me and I want justify their confidence.”
