Combates America Hits Stockton on May 10 with Zoila Frausto, Hector Sandoval
LOS ANGELES – April 3, 2019 – Combate Americas today announced that it will head to Stockton, Calif. with a world-class Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event at Stockton Arena on Friday, May 10, live on television in Spanish in the U.S. on both Univision (12 a.m. ET/PT) and UDN (12 a.m. ET/9 p.m.PT), and in English in the U.S. and Canada on DAZN (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT).
Priced from $22, tickets for the first-ever Combate Americas live event in Stockton are on sale at Ticketmaster.com, as well as at the Stockton Arena box office.
In the main event, women’s flyweight (125 pounds) superstar and former world champion Zoila “The Warrior Princess” Frausto (14-5) will meet an opponent to be announced soon.
Originally slated to compete in the previously announced ‘Combate del Reinas’ extravaganza on Friday, April 26, Frausto of Madera, Calif. will instead return to La Jaula, the Combate Americas competition cage, under headlining status, less than three months after she decimated Jaimee Nievera by way of first round (1:52) TKO (knee strike to the body) on February 22.
“We are bringing Combate Americas’ style of Mucha Más Acción to the city of Stockton for the first time ever with some of our sport’s baddest men and women, beginning with Zoila Frausto, who exemplifies the essence of a world-class fighter and proud Latina ,” said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren.
The Combate Americas event will also feature the promotional debut of Urijah Faber-trained, three-time flyweight champion Hector “Kid Alex” Sandoval (14-4), who will face an opponent to be announced soon.
Fighting out of Faber’s Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, Calif., the 32-year-old Sandoval was born in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mex. and is a four-time veteran of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) where he most notably scored a first-round (4:24) knockout (punches) on fellow world-ranked star Matt “Danger” Schnell on April 22, 2017.
Also announced today were a pair of featured featherweight (145 pounds) battles.
In one of the two featherweight contests, another Faber protégé – four-time Combate Americas veteran Erick Sanchez (8-4) of Sacramento – will square off with three-time Combate Americas veteran and slick submission ace Alex “Bam “Bam” Velasco (8-3) of Ensenada, B.C. Calif.
In the other featherweight scrap announced, undefeated Darwin Mendez (3-0) of Bronx, N.Y. will collide with Nate Diaz teammate Jose Aguayo (2-2) of Stockton.
A heavyweight preliminary bout affair that was announced today will see unbeaten Eduardo “Bogeyman” Perez (2-0) of Richmond, Calif. battle Giovanni “Bam Bam” Sarran (5-3) of Antelope Valley, Calif.
Additional matchups will be announced soon.
Doors at Stockton Arena will open for the Combate Americas event on May 10 at 6 p.m. local time, and the first preliminary bout will begin at 7 p.m.
