Barclay Center – Cloud vs Hopkins undercard results

Lightweights Michael Perez (18-1-2, 10 KO’s) and Lonnie Smith (14-4-3, 10 KO’s) fought to a disappointing majority draw after the fight was stopped in the seventh round on an accidental head butt incurred by Perez. Perez knocked down Smith came back after a knockdown in the second round cutiing Perez who seemed to be fading in the later rounds. Scores were 67-65 for Perez with two identical scores of 66-66.

Rising Jr middleweight Eddie Gomez (13-0, 9 KO’s) stopped Javier Gomez (14-11, 10 KO’s) in the first round of a scheduled six. Gomez knocked down Javier with a left hook. After rising to his feet referee Javier seemed to be on unsteady legs. Arthur Mercante jr stepped in before any further punches were exchanged, stopping the fight at the 1:17 mark of the 1st round.

Staten Island’s Marcus Browne ( 3-0, 3 KO’s) wasted no time dispatching Josh Thorpe ( 1, 3 ) in the 1st round in a light heavyweight fight. It was a clinical beat down from the opening round with Brown landing some vicious body shots and after knocking Thorpe down the ref stepped on after a few more blows.

Junior middleweight Frank Galarza (9-0-1, 5 KO’s) showed his dominance knocking out an over matched Guillermo Ibarra (7-2, 4 KO’s) in 2 rounds from a shot to the body. Referee Arthur Mercante Jr. waved off the fight at 2:19 of the 2nd round.

Junior featherweight Claude Staten Jr made his professional debut winning a four-round unanimous over Mike Hill. Claude scored a knocked down in the first round. All three judges scored the bout a shut-out at 40-35.

Cruiserweight Steve Bujaj (9-0, 6 KO’s) earned a hard fought four-round unanimous over Zeferino Albino (4-16-3, 2 KO’s). All three judges scored the fight 40-36 for Bujai.
