Video: Wonderboy Thompson on a Conor McGregor move to welter: I think he would be stronger
“You know, I’ve heard he (Conor McGregor) walks at about 180 anyway. So he walks around fairly big. So to make the cut to 170 wouldn’t be that hard, ‘cause he’s used to cutting to 145. I think he will be stronger to be honest with you. I mean people are saying that he is short, but the 170 division is full of shorter guys, guys that are 5’9, 5’10. I think he will do fairly well.”
Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson – No. 8 UFC welterweight contender, giving his thoughts on comments made by UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor that he may move up to the welterweight division before the end of the year. First McGregor would need to get past UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos who he will face at UFC 196 on the 5th of March.
Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson will be facing Johny Hendricks in a five-round welterweight bout that will headline the next UFC fight Night, Saturday, Feb. 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
